As a result of a strong growth in sales, Ridder Drive Systems has expanded its Dutch production facility with 2000 square metres (approx. 21,500 square feet). The company has also recruited a large number of new staff. These changes should allow Ridder to continue its growth momentum until 2021. As a result of the expansion, the layout of the factory has improved and a number of new supply routes have been laid.
On Friday, 28 October, the Hillenraad100 was announced during the Hortigala awards ceremony. After last year's meteoric rise up the rankings, Ridder-HortiMaX has moved up another four places to a surprising 14th place. Continuous developments in our product portfolio and corporate strategy, as well as working as a cohesive group, have contributed greatly to this exceptional ranking.
Last weekend a large group with Spanish, Portuguese and Mexican greenhouse builders gathered in Murcia, Spain, to celebrate 20 years of cooperation between Ridder Drives and Agrocomponentes. As well as this, a special presentation was held to introduce the Ridder Poly Drive (RPD) on the Spanish market.
At the Hortigala dinner on 30 October, it was announced that the Ridder-HortiMaX group had climbed 20 places in the Hillenraad top 100 top, rising from 38th to 18th place. We're extremely proud and excited of this ranking in the top 100 of leading Dutch horticultural companies. We would like to think all our partners and customers for their trust and support.
Ridder is the market leader for drive technology in international horticulture. The current range was especially designed for use in glass greenhouses. The demand for other drives increased by the growth of the poly greenhouse acreage. After two years of developing Ridder introduces a new range specifically designed for use in poly greenhouses. The coming weeks a phased rollout will take place.
Ridder is pleased to announce that it has acquired all the business operations of Anjou Serres Services. This marks Ridder's next step forward in its internationalization efforts. The French market is a strategic priority for Ridder. It calls for presenting one familiar face to our customers with local people that understand local needs. With this acquisition, Ridder has further strengthened its commitment to the French market. That's why Ridder will soon be rolling out its new poly range in France.
Ridder will remain open during the summer holidays. Although your regular contact person may be unavailable, there will always be someone on hand to assists you. After their state visit to Canada, the Dutch King and Queen travelled down to Chicago. There they went to see the largest and most innovative 'rooftop greenhouse' project in North America. The royal couple listened with great interest to Wil Lammers, VP of Ridder HortiMaX North America, as he told them about this Gotham Greens facility, which was fully automated by HortiMaX.
Ridder and HortiMaX expand their business activities in China. Last week, both companies took part in the Hortiflorexpo. Prior to the fair an introductory training was provided for Chinese Greenhouse Builders. The group also visited a successful Chinese project. After the Hortiflorexpo other seminars were given and Joep van den Bosch announced the opening of the new Office in China.
